Thanks! It was a nightmare for me, and my mom, and my little brother and sister. But it also showed me that there are kind and decent people in the world too. Not to mention a loving and patient wife who is very good to me. Things have turned out much worse for others!
Jimmy - I am so sorry you had to experience this type of behavior from a so-called Father. Believe me, I have stories too, and I find out more and more often many of us do! I hope this letter brought you some of the closure that you so deserve! Sending lots of love and hugs your way! You are forging your own path and he no longer has the power!
Thanks Jerri! I know you know what I mean. Unfortunately, many people either do not or think they are to blame for their own abuse. Hopefully this letter helps someone else to be free!
Damn. I thought we grew up in the same house for a minute. I started to write a longer response, but realized it was pretty much your story. I’m 68 now. He’s gone. I came to terms with it, but you never forget. He still haunts my dreams on occasion.
Good sleep without horrible dreams is something I still shoot for. He ruined that. However, it has been improving recently, so there's that. Progress not perfection, and whatnot. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I am so sorry you went through this. This was heartbreaking to read. I wish you all the best in healing and recovering.

My mom didn't tell me many things for a similar reason: the fear that I would find my courage and do something stupid. I get the feeling.
Glad you survived. Sorry for what happened.
